Our friends Arlene and Raul gave us some dried fish before they moved to Japan. They gave us one pack of Tawilis and one pack of Danggit and some other dried fish which I don't know the names. They also gave us some fresh fish like crappy and gg. I used to eat dried fish when I was still in the Philippines but I don't eat that much salted fish now. I talked to my friend Ann and told her that I wanna share her some of my dried fish. She said she likes them so hubby and I will be going to her house next week to visit her and give her some fish.

Tips On How To Fillet A Fish
First wash the fish until it feels fresh and clean. Make a cut just behind the fin. Slice along the backbone of the fish to the tail. The bones of the rib cage will be left on the meat.
Turn the fillet over skin down then start from the tail and fillet towards the head to remove the skin.
Then turn the fillet over and cut down the center to remove the bones along the blood line.
After you fillet the fish and cut the center bones out then feel with your fingers to see if there are any more bones in it. As always you want to make sure you have all the small bones removed. Wash and chill the filleted fish.

More Crappy Fish
Yesterday, our friends came to pick up the balikbayan box that we were going to ship to my family in the Philippines. They gave us crappy fish again and this time they gave us ten. Oh my, I love fish. I will surely miss our friends when they will move to Japan next month. I told them I will surely miss my supply of fish and also I gonna miss them. Not only that, I will have to look for another people to ship my box to the Philippines. Arlene and Raul are good friends of ours and they always give us something everytime I send balikbayan box through them. Raul always go fishing and he caught lots of fish. That's why he always give us everytime they come here.

Crappy Fish

Just look at these crappy fish! One of our friends gave it to us. He went fishing in the lake and he caught a lot of fish. This is the second time that he gave us some of the fish that he caught. He's so generous. I love fish and I cook it Filipino style of course with the head and eyes. Hubby doesn't wanna eat fish with the eyes of the fish looking at him. He want the fish fillet without bones, eyes, head and tails, he-he! I told him that's the way we cook fish in the Philippines. We just fillet it when we eat it. So every time I cook my fish, I have to cook a fish fillet for him too that was bought from Wal Mart. Separate menu of fish. I like to cook my fish with vinegar, salt a lot of onions, garlic, black pepper and ginger. These crappy fish are so delicious. My hubby like his fish fried or baked.

Grilled Fish
Grilling fish is tricky without a grill basket, but don't let that deter you:
* Spray the fish with nonstick cooking spray or brush it very lightly with oil.
* Place the fish around the edges of the grill, away from the hottest part of the fire (Don't try to lift up the fish right away; it will be stuck to the grill).
* Start checking for color and doneness after a few minutes, once the fish starts to release some of its juices.
* Flip it over when it's got light grill marks.
Fish on the grill needs to be attended very closely and only takes a few minutes per side. If the filets are an even thickness, fish can be cooked through by grilling it on one side only.
