Corn bread is one of hubby's favorites. He likes to eat it with chili. Since we were here in my homeland, he missed it terribly. The grocery stores here don't sell any corn meal. We've been to bigger grocery stores but still they don't have it. Boy, was he glad when my God-daughter sent us a corn meal mix! He said it would have been better if it's just the regular corn meal which he can make corn bread from scratch and it's cheaper. He cooked the corn meal mix after he bought some ingredients to cook meat loaf because he said corn bread goes well with meat loaf. He used a round baking dish, I don't know why. We have a rectangular baking dish but he preferred the round one. When it was already cooked, he took it out from the oven and he was in a hurry to slice it. Hence, the result was uneven slices because the corn bread was still hot and soft. The verdict, the corn bread was okay but too sweet for us. The corn meal mix was sweet unlike the corn meal that hubby used to make in Texas. That's the reason why hubby prefer the regular corn meal with no sugar.
Next, hubby cooked the meat loaf. Did I tell that hubby was the one who taught me how to cook meat loaf? I am so glad that he really can cook when he wants too. So here's the meat loaf that he cooked. The verdict, it was yummy to the tummy!

Foods For Hubby
Here are a couple of foods that I cooked which my hubby love to eat. I admit, I've been cooking these for him very often and sometimes I get tired cooking and eating them but my hubby don't. I prefer eating rice, vegetables and fish and I can eat it everyday while hubby prefer eating mash potatoes, burgers, steak and bread. It's a good thing that hubby had already adjusted to our cooking and he learned to eat our foods. He's not that picky with his foods compared to some foreigners that I know. Hubby told me that before he met me, he used to eat only American and Mexican foods. It was his first time to eat Filipino foods when he came to the Philippines in 2002 to meet me. Since then, he learned to eat and appreciate Filipino foods.
Here are my chicken afritada and mash potatoes.

Munggo Beans and Green Veggies
We're still in Baguio right now and we're staying at my bro-in-law's house. We didn't go out walking and sight-seeing today. I've been tired for the past few days with all the walking and roaming around the city. My hubby wants to go out again today but I don't feel like it. It's like the table was turned because when we were in the US I was the one who always asked him to take me out but he was lazy. Now it's the other way around.
For our lunch, our maid and I cooked munggo beans with ground beef sauteed with garlic and onions and mixed with spinach leaves that I bought and chayote tops from the back of the house. Then we just boiled some of the chayote tops and also the camote tops that I bought in the market a couple of days ago. Of course rice was cooked too. We gave some of the munggo beans to my bro-in-law's dad next door and in return he gave us pinakbet that he cooked and sliced half-ripe native mangoes. We had our lunch eaten and after I ate, it's time for me to blog while the maid do the dishes.

I Cooked Pinto Beans and Collard Greens
I've been busy today doing house chores like doing the laundry and cooking. I haven't been cooking that much lately because I've been lazy. Most of the time, hubby and I just eat sandwiches. Sometimes I baked burritos and taquitos that my hubby bought in the store. I've been craving to eat other foods especially Filipino foods. But the problem was, I was not in the mood to cook lately.
Today was one of those days that I cooked some foods for our supper. Just after I ate lunch (sandwich again) I cooked pinto beans. I also cooked the collard greens which I harvested from my garden a few days ago. My hubby love the way I cook them. Of course I cooked rice too that goes with the beans and collard greens. Right now while I'm typing this, hubby is already eating and he said all of the foods I cooked taste good.
